Winter Concert Review

“Winter” Concert Review

The Echo, Los Angeles

Thursday October 16 2025

A dreamy, full circle night at The Echo that felt equal parts romantic and cathartic. Winter transformed the room into a hazy dreamscape of shoegaze guitars, pristine covals, and shared release. Proof that Adult Romantix hits even harde when experienced together in a packed room of strangers screaming out loud.

When I arrived at the Echo last Thursday, I was full of excitement for two reasons. The first reason was that I was visiting an Iconic Venue in Los Angeles I hadn’t been to yet. And the second reason was that I was ready to have myself an Adult Romanix Night soundtracked by Winter. Before that, fans in the audience had the pleasure of dancing along to Hooky’s set. A great mix of energetic beatmaking and hazy guitar playing set the tone perfectly.

When fans heard the iconic start of “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer as the light began to dim, they knew something was coming. An into song for Winter to walk on stage to and  create an almost “movie like” atmosphere was a great stylistic choice. Donning custom angel wings also added to that dreamy feeling that filled the floor. Opening the show with “Just like a Flower” got the crowd moving with its up-tempo drums and dancey guitar chords. Followed by “Existentialism”, another hit from the new “Adult Romatix” album the energy kept flowing from the stage, to the crowd and back again. An energy that prompted Samira Winter (vocalist and front woman), to express her extreme gratitude to the crowd, “I wrote so many of these songs at my old place just down the road from here, so to be able to play them at a sold out show is sort of a full circle moment for me, thank you”.

The vibes kept rolling as Winter dug a little deeper into their discography. With pristine vocals and dreamy guitars, it felt like I had taken a bus ride and been dropped off into this dreamstate of a reality. Combing elements of indie rock, and dream pop, Tracks like “The Beach” and “In my basement Room” had a magical feeling to them as the filled out room was moving and swaying like they were in a dream.

The songs that gleamed the brightest came from the new record “Adult Romatix”. Tracks like “Without You” and “like Lovers Do” were drowning in effects in the best ways possible. Reverb, distortion, and vocal effects come together to create a indie rock and shoegaze masterpiece. Even when the song takes a turn and Samira statrted singing in Portugese, the magical vibe was not lost, if anything it was enhanced. A highlight from the show was when Samira had taken a moment to ask everyone in the crowd to take a moment and scream with her. It is as if she knew that we all had something pent up inside, and what better solution to scream and yell with a bunch of strangers Echo Park.

When the night was coming to an end arounf 10:30 PM the crowd chanted “one more song” for a solid five minutes. A combination of chants and barking from the crowd turned into an eruption of excitement when the band came on to play two more. With a winning combination of shoegazey/indie rock, amazing live vocals (despite feeling a bit under the weather), and heartwarming crowd interaction, it is no surprise to me as to why “Adult Romantix” is climbing the Album of the year list for many folks including myself. An amazing show to see if you have the opportunity. Check out their website to see upcoming tour dates.
